Wednesday, September 5th proved to be a busy day for the Croton Falls Fire Department with six calls for service. One of these calls was at the Bridleside Apartments where the Fire Department was dispatched to the report of smoke in the building with an alarm sounding. Upon arrival of the first units an inside odor of burning was noted along with a sprinkler activation on a second floor porch. Further investigation revealed a small fire under the electric barbecue grill on the porch which was extinguished by a sprinkler head. Units on scene checked for further fire spread and secured the utilities to the apartment. The cause of the fire was investigated by Zone 5 of the Westchester County Cause and Origin team and all units returned to service.
