Honoring a Life Member

This morning the Croton Falls Fire Department took part in the funeral service for Harold Daros. Harold was a 61 year member who was an Ex-Chief and past President of the Department, a past Commissioner of the District as well as a member of multiple Department committees over the years.

Harold was part of 3 generations of firefighters to serve our community, and was followed by two sons and a grandson. Both of his sons hold positions that Harold once held: currently his son Ted is President of the Department and is also an ex-Chief; his son Bob is a Commissioner for the Fire District; and one of Harold’s grandsons, Teddy, is an active interior firefighter.

Harold was a fixture in the firehouse and will be greatly missed.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting him in person, but from knowing his sons Bob and Ted, and his grandson Teddy, through my new position at CFFD but also as a member of the community for many years, you can see the impression he left us: strong, community-minded, family and community comes first mindset, proud American. Examples we can all try to emulate in our lives.
