It’s no secret distracted driving is one of the leading causes of accidents on roadways. Most drivers are guilty of distracted driving at some point and the usual culprits include using one’s cell phone, adjusting the car radio, getting a quick bite to eat while on the go and the actions of passengers in the vehicle. But are any of those distractions worth the risk of an accident that could cost you thousands of dollars, require time in traffic court or lead to injuries (or worse) for you, a loved one or another driver?

In the past few weeks, Croton Falls firefighters have responded to a noticeable increase in automobile accidents on the roadways in our town. Some of you may have seen one of the accidents and stopped to help as a good Samaritan or, more likely, been forced to use a detour due to a road closure while emergency crews tended to the injured and cleared the roadway of vehicles, fluids and debris. When getting behind the wheel of your car, SUV, truck, whatever…please pay attention and avoid distractions.

Take a minute to check out the website below for AAA’s helpful tips to avoid distracted driving. Please keep these tips in mind when you’re driving otherwise it’s only a matter of time before we meet one another on a roadway in town.
