On Sunday, July 12th, 2020 at 3:24 p.m. members were dispatched to a motor vehicle fire on I-684 northbound between exits 7 and 8.

New York State Police arrived on scene and confirmed a working car fire on the shoulder just south of exit 8.

CFFD units arrived moments later and immediately went to work. Engine 148 took a blocking position in the right lane to provide a safe scene while firefighters deployed a hose line and attacked the fire. Arriving next, Tanker 88 took a secondary blocking position and stretched a supply line to provide additional water to Engine 148. While the car was a loss, there were no injuries to occupants or firefighters and all lanes of the interstate were reopened once the car was removed by a local tow company.
