At 13:11 hours on March 3rd, the Croton Falls Fire Department and our EMS partners were dispatched for an unresponsive male at a commercial establishment at 1 Bloomer Road. The first arriving firefighter, Ex-Chief Jason Blauvelt, provided an update that the patient was in cardiac arrest and bystander CPR was in progress. Upon the arrival of Utility 28, FF Jason Nickson quickly moved EMS equipment to the patient's location while Lt. Sal Astarita established command. Upon his arrival, Ex-Chief Gary Weber took over the role as the lead EMT and directed the actions of others including FF/EMT Martin Aronchick, Ex-Chief Daniel Dreyer and Ex-Chief Jason Blauvelt who administered lifesaving care.

With the assistance of Ex-Chief John Blauvelt, firefighters moved the patient to an ambulance for continued treatment and transport to an area hospital by a crew from the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Westchester EMS. Before the ambulance left the scene, the patient had regained a pulse and he was breathing on his own upon arrival at the hospital.

The quick response and actions of firefighters and our EMS partners directly led to what appears to be a positive outcome for the patient.
