Earlier this month 3 fishermen rescued from the Croton Falls Reservoir. Firefighters from Croton Falls, Mahopac, Mahopac Falls, and Yorktown, along with state police, Carmel police, DEP Police and Putnam County Sheriffs, worked together to save the 3 elderly fishermen. This email was received form one of the parties in the boat.

Dear First Responders of Putnam County and Westchester County,

On behalf of myself and my friends (fishermen), I am writing to you to show my gratitude and appreciation for saving our lives. Thank you to the wonderful and professional first responders of Putman and Westchester County Police, Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance staff, and many more brave men and women who saved our lives on November 2, 2022.

It was a beautiful autumn day as we went fishing on Croton Fall Reservoir. Unfortunately, one of my friends suffered numbness in his leg and he caused our boat to overturn. We tried to bring the boat to shore, but unfortunately, the anchor was still attached to the inside of the flipped boat and it wouldn't budge.

The water was very cold and we were getting cold and very tired. Thank you for saving our lives. God bless everyone involved. I suffered a heart attack when struggling in the water. Doctors at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut saved my life with 2 more stents in my arteries.

Thank you again for the work you do to keep us all safe.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!! God Bless all first responders and their families.

Sincerely,
Jerzy Mikrut
