March 9, 2023

At 9:20am this morning, Croton Falls Fire was dispatched to a 2nd alarm fire in the Town of Southeast. Tanker 8 responded to the scene and assisted with water supply and fireground operations. Tanker 8 was released from the scene around 12:15pm.

While Tanker 8 was returning to Station 2, Croton Falls Fire was dispatched to an address on Starr Ridge Road for a reported brush fire. Upon arrival, Tanker 8 observed a small area of brush burning in the rear of the residence. Crews stretched 1 3/4 inch line and extinguished the fire. Units cleared after about 30 minutes.

Shortly after clearing Starr Ridge, Croton Falls Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Fox Den Lane. Car 2072 was advised by 60 Control of a single caller reporting heavy smoke throughout the structure. Car 2072 requested Engine 167 from South Salem to respond on the assignment. Car 2142 of Goldens Bridge was in the area and arrived on scene confirming a heavy smoke condition throughout. With the update, Car 2072 requested a working fire assignment. Moments later, 2073 advised 2072 that food was left on the stove resulting in heavy smoke on the first and second floor. 2072 canceled the mutual aid assignments and continued in Croton Falls and South Salem for ventilation. Units operated for an hour before returning in service.

Croton Falls firefighters responded to multiple fire alarms in district over the course of the day, including a commercial fire alarm at 02:52 hours and residential fire alarm at 18:36 hours.
