On the night of Monday, March 28, 2016, at 20:59hrs while returning from their weekly drill members of the Croton Falls Fire Department came across a tree down blocking the roadway in the area of 649 Grant Road. After further investigation it was discovered the tree had fallen and struck a motor vehicle while the driver was proceeding south on Grant Road.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured but her vehicle received a large amount of damage. The Croton Falls Fire Department shut down Grant Road at Titicus Road and June Road and remained on scene until released by the New York State Troopers (NYSP).

Grant Road was closed for a couple of hours until the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) arrived to remove the tree.
