Croton Falls Firefighters Assist Brewster Fire Department with Tractor Trailer Accident

At 13:20 hours on Sunday, April 24, 2016, the Croton Falls Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to I-684 northbound just south of exit 9E to assist the Brewster Fire Department with an accident involving two tractor trailers and two cars with confirmed extrication.

Croton Falls firefighters responded with 2 chiefs, Rescue 28 and Mini Attack 16 with multiple rescue tools on board both trucks. Once on location crews were put to the test along with Brewster firefighters to remove one of the drivers from the heavily damaged tractor trailer.

Crews had to use multiple tools such as hydraulic spreaders, cutters and rams, and 2 electric Sawzalls during the 40+ minute extrication.

Once the driver was removed from the vehicle, he was taken to an awaiting helicopter for transport to Westchester Medical Center.

The Croton Falls Fire Department was released from the scene at 15:07 hours.
