A trio of fires within 48 hours had Croton Falls firefighters working throughout the day on Sunday, November 13th and twice on Tuesday, November 15th.

Barn Fire - Hardscrabble Road, North Salem
A fast-moving fire consumed two buildings and started a four acre brushfire near Harvest Moon Orchard the afternoon of Sunday, November 13th. Croton Falls firefighters were on scene within two minutes of dispatch, but had to wage a defensive battle given the advanced fire, radiant heat and heavy fireload in the buildings. Despite the loss of two buildings, a family residence was saved and there were no firefighter injuries. Many mutual aid departments from Westchester, Putnam and Fairfield counties were called to the scene to help fight the fires, help with water supply operations and provide relief crews.

Hughson Commons Fire - Carmel, NY
Early on Tuesday, November 15th Croton Falls firefighters were requested to Carmel with an engine and ladder to help extinguish a fire at the Hughson Commons senior citizens complex. Lightweight construction and advanced fire upon arrival contributed to heavy damage to the fire building.

Auto Body Shop Fire - Mahopac, NY
Again on Tuesday, November 15th at 13:54 hours Croton Falls firefighters with an engine were dispatched to assist the Mahopac Fire Department with a building fire on the Mahopac - Somers border. The fire was under control within an hour, but the building sustained heavy damage.
