On Tuesday, March 6th, 2018, at 9:49 a.m. the Croton Falls Fire Department, along with the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a paramedic from Westchester EMS, was dispatched for an injured horseback rider approximately 400 yards in the woods from 78 Crosby Road. First units on scene determined the best access to the injured rider would be from the driveway of 20 Crosby Road.

Fire and EMS personnel walked to the injured rider while the Department's Utility 64, a Polaris Ranger specially outfitted to handle EMS and fire calls off road, responded to Crosby Road. Once on scene Utility 64 transported the paramedic and his equipment to the patient. After a medical assessment, the patient was prepared for transport and brought out of the muddy and sloped terrain to the awaiting ambulance.

The patient was transported to a local hospital and units were placed back in service.
