At 19:26 hours on June 3rd, Car 2074 requested Croton Falls Fire with EMS to respond to interstate 684 northbound for a multi-vehicle accident with confirmed extrication. Car 2074 advised of at least six injuries and six vehicles involved prompting interstate 684 northbound to be shut down. Due to the highway being shut down, all fire and EMS units were instructed to drive southbound in the northbound lanes for best access. Rescue 28 was first arriving and began extricating a seriously injured patient, while Car 2073 and 2074 worked on coordinating additional fire and EMS resources to the scene. Car 2072 arrived on scene shortly after assuming command, while Engine 148, Engine 149, and Tanker 88 responded and assisted with patient care, securing vehicles, and traffic control. In total, three 45 Medics, two WEMS supervisors, WCDES EMS 11, North Salem EMS, Somers EMS, and additional WEMS ambulances responded and transported six patients to Danbury Hospital. Fire units operated on scene for about an hour and a half before returning in service.
