This month features an article about a fire in Croton Falls from The Journal News August 28, 2013. Each Monday night we conduct drills and train to prepare for future emergencies. This past March we conducted a size-up drill in Croton Falls to train and identify any potential hazards in town. During the size-up drill, as we walked along West Cross Street, members who fought the fire in this month’s article explained what occurred to the newer members. Ladder 67 was used to size-up the different roof tops and see the structures from a different vantage point. Then in April we conducted a water source drill in Croton Falls to train newer members and practice drafting water from the river in town. These drills are essential to help us train, practice, and identify any new challenges or hazards we may face. If you would like to join the department, stop by on a Monday night, see one of our drills, and fill out an application.
